_________________________________________________________________________ There are few things more satisfying than having ridiculously talented singers perform your work. Below you will find three songs from our musical comedy "I Love You Because"; two from the original cast recording and one from Lauren Kennedy's solo album "Here and Now." Both albums are available on PS Classics.
"Queen Esther" is a family musical comedy based on the story of Purim, that was commissioned by The Kaufman Center and performed in March, 2008. The wonderful Kate Wetherhead is on the first song, "Queen Esther." "Milking the Cow" is from the performance at the Kaufman Center and stars Jenna Dallaco as well as the two of us.
As we were in rehearsals for "I Love You Because" we started writing songs about what happens after the "happily ever after" depicted in the show. The more songs that came out, the more they seemed to be of the same piece, which we have developed into the song cycle, "Next Thing You Know." John Simpkins directed the piece at NYU this past fall.
We made our television debut with the wonderful children's television series "Johnny and the Sprites" on the Disney channel. It was a lot of fun, and we can't wait for our next chance to write for children's television.
